Frequently Asked Questions
FAFSA is referred to as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It is used to determine your college funding and is available through the FSA website, which is sourced by the U.S. Department of Education. You can register for it if you meet the following requirements:
- An eligible us citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Have a valid SSN
- You are above 18 years
- Have no criminal record
The applications open every year on October 1, and everyone can benefit from it. It was only for the years 2024-2025 when it was delayed and was released late in December. This was due to the significant changes that have been made in the overall process of granting and the form itself.
It is expected to get back to its original date from next year onwards.
The closing date is June 30 for all those who are applying for the fall semester, but you should apply before that if you want to secure special subsidies and want to increase your chance of getting more resources than others.
Time is given to make corrections in the form, the date for which is before September 14. Being vigilant and being up to date is necessary as the closing date differs from state to state and institute to institute.
