ENF is a dream of 1928’s National President John F. Malley whose mission started with a plan of uniting the forces of the Order into a mighty army to service mankind. It was at the annual Grand Lodge Convention in Miami that he called the delegates to take action by voting that initiated a $100,000 grant to establish ENF.
The name “Elks” scholarship is given after the African Buffalo and its stately qualities of peaceful and protective nature.
An apprentice may not receive more than one ENF financial aid in any one academic year. Issued by the Chicago office of the Elks National Foundation they are provided and paid directly to the schools and under no circumstances a payment is made to the participant. For the 2024 season, it is providing the following Educational Aids as scholarships.
The “Most Valuable Student” scholarships are for U.S. citizens who are currently high school seniors. The high school graduates can not apply for it. To get this financial aid, you are required to get your applications which are available online on their official webpage, or can mail them. It is provided on the basis of financial assistance that is needed and upon the leadership qualities of a student. This year 2023, the deadline to apply for it is Nov 13.
Another one is the Legacy Award. It is for those college-bound high school seniors who are the grandchildren or children of dues-paying Elks. These are only honored to accredited US American schools, colleges, or universities.
The application is available online or can be mailed. It should be completed and submitted online. The deadline for the year 2023 is due by Feb. 5, 2024.
